In the latest research of a newspaper, some shocking facts came out where there is extremely low quality of childcare around the United States. A lot of day care centers are unsafe and run poorly by the owners. Childcare in the US is expensive though.
Many Child Development Centre In America Are Rated Poor
As per the survey of National Institute of Child Health Development, the majority of centers are rated as fair or poor and nothing better than that. Only 10% daycare centers among all are rated as high-quality care centers. Safety of children is extremely important but these centers are compromising on that also. Experts say that each caretaker must have only one to three infants ranging between six months to 18 months of age. However, all the caretakers do not meet that standard. The ratio of meeting these standards is just one-third of the total.
Child Care Workers Are Not Paid And Trained
As per the state, there are some providers that do not need training or need minimal in terms of safety, health and child development. This sector is so poorly paid that the highly skilled workers do not will to work here. Survey says, in 2011 the average paid salary of a child care worker was $19,430 annually which is even less than a parking lot attendant. If at all these workers are paid good, then the condition of child care centers may improve. Fact, that they are paid so slow the quality of care and development is compromised. It is a great risk in terms of the healthy economy of a nation.
No Inspection By State Regulators
State regulators lack in inspecting the centers regularly and are often bound to keep the centers open in any condition. Like many states, like Texas, do an inspection of child care centers at least once a year but it has a manpower now which can take care of this inspection at least twice a year. Huge mistakes do not lead to keep such centers as a closedown. Because lack of options and notorious or working parents force them to keep it open. They do it at the cost of their child’s low-quality care.
Child Development Center Is Really Expensive
With all the factors considered, child care centers are bruising the financial burdens on many families. In the United States, the cost of these centers is even more expensive than the rents. In Massachusetts, the average cost is $15,000 a year to keep your infant full time in a licensed center. These are so costly that parents barely get anything for themselves and are in a process of just gathering funds to keep their kids or toddlers in a safe environment which is even a myth.
Government Must Intervene
In this complete thing, the government must intervene as other governments do. In many countries, parents receive lots of benefits through which they can aid their children and their quality development.
